Finding oneself out of work leaves us drained not only in terms of money but also morale and motivation. And these are one of the first things you need to keep up and running at all times - especially during a layoff and job hunting period.

Frustration in not finding work, not being able to be support yourself or others financially and the worsening money issues over time add to your anxiety and stress in dealing with the unemployed phase.

But take a good look at the scenario and you'll find that hunger is not the worst feature of unemployment; idleness is. As long as you keep yourself occupied with something or the other you will get over this phase quickly. Dale Carnegie said flaming enthusiasm, backed by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most frequently makes for success. How true.

Here are 8 Stephen R Covey quotes to infuse you with motivation and help you keep going until you reach your goal. For the uninitiated, Dr.Stephen R Covey is the author of the best-selling book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.

- “I am personally convinced that one person can be a change catalyst, a "transformer" in any situation, any organization. Such an individual is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf. It requires vision, initiative, patience, respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming leader.”

- “Our ultimate freedom is the right and power to decide how anybody or anything outside ourselves will affect us.”

- “When you have a challenge and the response is equal to the challenge, that's called "success". But once you have a new challenge, the old, once-successful response no longer works. That's why it is called a "failure".”

- “Don't argue for other people's weaknesses. Don't argue for your own. When you make a mistake, admit it, correct it, and learn from it / immediately.”

- “Every human has four endowments- self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to change.”

- “Until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise”

- “People can't live with change if there's not a changeless core inside them. The key to the ability to change is a changeless sense of who you are, what you are about and what you value.”

- “Ineffective people live day after day with unused potential. They experience synergy only in small, peripheral ways in their lives. But creative experiences can be produced regularly, consistently, almost daily in people's lives. It requires enormous personal security and openness and a spirit of adventure.”
