You have been out of job for a long time.
After a long struggle of replying to adverts, sweat, blood and tears you land up a job interview.
How do you prepare for it? Do you rehearse your sales pitch about yourself, highlighting the plus points while carefully avoiding the negative points during your sales talk?
That's all well and good. You need to improve on your sales pitch and make yourself come across as THE candidate for the job.
But here's an advice: don't just depend on your sales pitch. Instead, focus on building a relationship during the interview.. with the interviewer, with the job, with company.
Sales talk is fine, but in the current environment, building relationship is much better as the competition is very high and the interviewer has more options for filling the job than a couple of years ago. And off of these candidates can give a sales talk equal to that of yours in terms of persuasion. Some might give even better than yours.
But your relationship with the company, with the job, with your prospective boss is exclusive to you and only you. No one else can replicate the same. They can replicate your sales talk but a relationship is something they will find hard to do.
So take this into consideration. Next time you're in an interview, just relax and start building a relationship.
You can be certain of a positive outcome
